About Me

Cali lady now East Coaster, married, fraternal twin and avid cooking show watcher. I like working on a myriad of media projects in both design and code while I try to stay cooler or warmer as the seasons change. Since the world is already an endless cacophony of chaos, I like to play cozy video games where I get to relax, play and solve puzzles. My other time consuming hobbies include crocheting, knitting, roller skating, watching the Phillies, the Eagles and the birds in my backyard.

Writing in the Age of Ai

Writing in the age of Ai is interesting. I treat Ai like I treat other technology - as a tool to help me do something better. I created a template form with fields to organize my writing into sections. Then I ask Ai to summarize my writing. Then I read what Ai wrote, decide most of it is hog wash and use maybe a sentence or two. The most useful thing Ai has done for my writing is for checking my references and facts I use in the review. So, Check it out. My game review of Unpacking at: https://www.rankandplay.com/reviews/unpacking-video-game-review-exploring-the-details-of-a-2021-award-winning-example-of-game-design

Recorded Talk with Unpacking Devs on YT

screenshot of grey blocks in Unity application used to design the game of Unpacking

While researching the game "Unpacking" for a game review, I found a video of the developers showing how they designed the game mechanics in Unity. They talk about how they used a grid system and defined items using X and Y sizes. It's nice they bring so much transparency into the game. Link to the video is: The Design of "Unpacking" Broken Down by its Developers - https://youtu.be/-zaVo2KdMIk?si=dyjp9l6gJF_Dqz_-
